- Bikepacking is backpacking on a bicycle. Pack a picnic lunch, plenty of water and a camera then start pedaling. Visitors can meander through designated self-guided bike trails in the Blackwater River State Forest or along the National Seashore. If you don’t travel with your own wheels, you can rent a bike or scooter from Sage Paddle Co. and take a leisurely ride along the shore. Truly Spokin Bike Shop in Milton has the Blackwater Heritage State Trail right behind their building. Blackwater Heritage State Trail, offers more than nine miles of paved trail and has been designated as a National Recreation Trail and is part of Florida’s State Greenways and Trails System.
- Cycling enthusiasts can even opt for a private guided bike tour through Hamilton Mountain Bike Tours & Rentals which utilizes Fatbikes equipped with 4 inch tires, enabling you to float over the soft sand. While there is very little in the way of hills along the Florida Panhandle, you can get a workout due to the sand and the sunshine.
