The Holland America 10 Day Southern Caribbean Seafarer Cruise aboard the beautiful Koningsdam from Fort Lauderdale, Florida to a Bahamas private island, Grand Turk, the Dominican Republic, Bonaire, Curacao and Aruba is an excellent choice for the Caribbean cruiser.
Fort Lauderdale, Florida
Holland America offers over a dozen excursions both before and after the cruise. A large number of the tours offered are into the amazing Florida Everglades. The famous Sawgrass Mill Mall is also included on their list of tours for those passengers who are interested in shopping.
Port Everglades is Florida’s “powerhouse port” and one of the top three cruise ports in the world.

Half Moon Cay, Bahamas
Half Moon Cay is Holland America’s private island in the Bahamas. It is easy to enjoy every minute surrounded by powdery beaches and crystal clear sea. Holland America offers a wide range of activities for the entire family. Horseback riding by land and sea is even offered. We enjoyed photographing the natural beauty, swimming in the turquoise water and listening to the island musicians.

Grand Turk, Turks & Caicos
Grand Turk is the capital island of the Turks & Caicos. In the 18th century, these islands were the perfect location for pirates to stash their booty. More than 200 years later, Grand Turk became the landing site of astronaut John Glenn after becoming the first American to orbit the earth. With a fabulous beach just off the pier and an enormous swimming pool with swim-up bar, this is the perfect place for a beach day.

Amber Cove, Dominican Republic
This new port area was built in 2015 using the country's colonial architecture. The Amber Museum gives details on how Amber was formed millions of years ago. You might remember the amber scenes from the movie Jurassic Park. The The La Aurora Cigar Factory is a must-see attraction. We enjoyed a tour of the city of Puerto Plata - one of the Caribbean’s oldest cities, founded in the early 1500's.

Kralendijk, Bonaire
Bonaire is a Dutch Island best known for the surrounding warm, shallow ocean. It is said that "Nature’s cup overfloweth here."
Bonaire is famous for its water sports. Tourism is the number one economy.
Dutch Colonial architecture is prominent but the island boasts many influences - Amerindian, Spanish, African, Dutch and British.
If you're lucky, you'll hear a bit of conversation in Papiamento - the creole language spoken throughout the Netherlands Antilles.

Willemstad, Curacao
Willemstad, Curacao was founded in 1634, just 10 years after New New York!
Willemstad is a unique mixture of Dutch architecture and Caribbean colors. It has colorful murals painted on the sides of buildings near gabled row houses overlooking the Sint Anna Bay waterway which divides the city in two. Willemstad has been recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
After walking off the ship, be sure to pass through the fort and watch for our favorite photo opp of the Dutch row houses with the waterway in the foreground.

Located just miles off the coasts of Venezuela and Colombia, the windy Dutch island of Aruba is one of the most popular Caribbean islands because of its arid climate. They get less than 25 inches of rain each year!
There are close to 7,000 hotel rooms in Aruba and more than 500,000 people visit each year. The layout of Aruba is very tropical on one side and arid desert the other.
We walked off the ship and booked a tour right in the port at one of the dozens of buses that waited. Our tour visited the California Lighthouse, Alto Vista Chapel, the ruins of the landmark natural bridge, and Casibari Rock Formations where we walked among boulders as high as three story houses.
