Scotland Photo Tour by Thomas Routzong and Steven Skelley - Day Two Glamis Castle and Highland Cattle
Our Scot friends Bob and Ev invited us to spend two weeks touring Scotland. They planned our daily itineraries from their homes on the east and west coasts and acted as our guides as they drove us across their beautiful country. Seeing Scotland with the insight of two Scotland natives is one of the highlights of our travel experiences.

DAY TWO
* Glamis Castle
Pronounced GLAMS, Glamis Castle has been the ancestral seat to the Earls of Strathmore and Kinghorne since 1372. It is said to be the inspiration for Shakespeare’s Macbeth It is also the childhood home of Queen Elizabeth the Queen Mother and birthplace of The Princess Margaret.
Our tour guide shared stories of a woman executed for choosing to marry the wrong type of man and a group of men who were walled into a room for playing cards!
Glamis Castle is everything one could hope for in visiting a castle.

* Highland Cattle
Highland Cattle are icons of Scotland. Their heritage stretches back to the days of the clans. They originate from West Scotland and are exceptionally hardy. They are perfectly adapted to harsh climates, strong winds, heavy rainfall and poor grazing in the mountains.
In Gaelic, they were known as Bò Ghàidhealach. In Scots, they are known as Heilan Coo or Highland Coos.
As we approached them in the field, they seemed perfectly happy to pose for our photos.
